Outsourcing survey tracks advances and strengths

Business process outsourcing has come so far since CPI began streamlining back-office operations that it seems like more than a dozen years from then to now. New technologies, service innovations and economic challenges continue to transform our industry dramatically.

Recognition of outsourcing's value expands at the same time, according to a recently released survey by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP). More than 40 percent of respondents say their organizations increasingly focus on knowledge-based activities. “Companies are outsourcing to do more than cut costs but to add value, increase business flexibility and prepare for future growth,” said IAOP Chairman Michael Corbett. “Companies that are using outsourcing are poised to emerge from the current economic crisis stronger.”

Forty-five  percent of participants in an 18-month survey of IAOP members said their company is more focused on bundling services with fewer outsourcing providers. To serve clients' needs, CPI has steadily expanded its suite of vertical industry solutions to include credit verification, account maintenance, invoicing, data management, data warehousing, claims adjudication, imaging, printing, mailing, CRM services and a domestic call center in China.

The findings from IAOP, which we belong to, also support optimism about business activity in coming months. Fifty-six percent of respondents said in January that they plan to increase outsourcing activities, up from 47 percent last September 2009.
