Year Opens with Revived Interest in BPO Value
Shaping strategies and tactics for the year ahead, a natural ritual this season, gains added significance as 2010 begins. Market challenges have made many businesses smarter, sharper and leaner – a situation that reinforces the value of process support outsourcing. "We have an exciting 2010 in front of us as clients aggressively move to cut costs and suppliers innovate to deliver better services," predicts Avinash Vashistha, CEO of Tholons, in a newsletter from his global advisory firm.
Michael Corbett, chairman at the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), also sees "positive signs of rebounding." In a roundup of 10 Outsourcing Trends to Watch for in 2010, he says: “As companies recover from these tough economic times, outsourcing will enable them to emerge as leaders in the new global economy." One IAOP forecast is that "companies will return to using outsourcing to recapture innovation and provide flexibility in 2010, versus simply saving money. . . . Providers and customers will re-negotiate contracts more collaboratively to regain innovation and flexibility, and enhance total value."
The U.S.-based Everest Consultants firm, quoted in Computerworld, similarly predicts a 2010 resurgence in demand for IT and business process outsourcing services. Even when budgets limit the scope of process overhauls, "organizations will still want to 'transform' how they deliver back office services," Mark Toon, CEO of outsourcing consultancy EquaTerra, told Computerworld. "They typically will want to move in pragmatic, incremental steps and focus on achieving best in class, standardized and optimized delivery models."
The most encouraging takeaway from these and other analyses is that now more than ever, companies recognize that BPO providers have a dramatic bottom-line impact on efficiency, quality assurance, costs and customer satisfaction. At CompuPacific, we focus on industry-specific expertise and vertical service capabilities as foundations for long-term relationships that help clients adapt nimbly to economic strains.
