Leaner solutions are vital in 2009
Business process outsourcing initiatives that strengthened competitive edge in recent years have become a survival necessity in this economic climate. It's more crucial now that clients and offshore partners address global financial challenges with flexibility, innovation and closer collaboration.
As in any crisis, tough times create opportunities that separate leaders from laggards. The urgent need for cost-cutting and scalable services in virtually every industry makes reliable, responsive outsourcing providers essential allies. "Companies involved in outsourcing that act strategically and decisively for the long term will be increasingly valued and sought,” says Sven Govaars, a senior vice president at Colliers International, in an Outsourcing Trends for 2009 report from the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals.
Chairman Michael Corbett of that industry group, which we belong to, believes "the outsourcing industry – fueled by continued customer demand for business model redesign and cost savings – remains a bright spot" amid the economic clouds. We begin this new year with that spirit of preparedness, prudence and confidence.
