'Quality does not happen by accident'

This month I'm presenting insights from Peter Carter, a process transformation specialist who is sales and marketing director of CompuPacific Europe, Ltd. In his new Business Process Consultant blog, our UK-based colleague shares ideas and inspiration of this type:

"Turbulence is change we are not in control of, and it's this turbulence that is making the business world uncertain. Uncertainty means that more businesses are acting like a rabbit caught in the headlights -- transfixed into inactivity, no longer spending money despite cost justification.

"This seems crazy to me. Now is the time to assess what we are in control of and focus on this and drive forward in the knowledge that you are in control.

"Every business must focus on product and service delivery. Understand the customer's needs and delight the customer in the quality of that deliverable. To do this in a controlled and repeatable way so that your customer can depend on that quality does not happen by accident.   It happens because your processes are defined, documented and efficient."

Though Peter's observations apply across industries, I value them as a reflection of values and vigor that have strengthened CPI for more than a decade – even in turbulent times.

Warm wishes from our teams on four continents for a joyous holiday season and prosperous new year!

Out-tasking report from CompuPacific Europe analyzes benefits of 'small bites'
December 11, 2008, News release

A new research report explores "out-tasking" as a flexible, cost-effective alternative or complement to traditional outsourcing agreements.  Jon Aries, managing director of CompuPacific Europe, and two other international business specialists describe a selective approach to external partnerships for business process or IT functions -- characterized as taking "one bite at a time."

This strategy is gaining wider attention "as a way of quickly realizing cost-savings or efficiencies in today's uncertain economic environment," the authors explain. "Instead of divesting their back-office functions as a whole, companies’ contract out in an incremental and manageable way. Out-tasking helps cut costs quickly without loss of control or high set-up costs."

Data entry, claim processing, other document-based services, animation packages and CAD conversion are among operations suited for out-tasking by small, specialized partners such as CompuPacific.
