Philippine office reflects CPI growth strategy

Being ready for opportunities is a key to success, so reliable foresight and strategic planning provide important advantages. That’s why CompuPacific International extended our scope last year with a presence in the Philippines through a partnership agreement with Cybersoft Information Technologies, Inc., a Manila provider of BPO and document conversion services since 1986. This step already shows value and favorable timing.
“The economic slowdown in the United States is likely to boost the Philippines' outsourcing industry,” according to a recent report from Channel News Asia’s correspondent in Manila and an article this month in that country’s Business World newspaper. As the U.S. economic slowdown leads more companies to cut costs through offshoring, the Philippine government actively supports expansion of its business process outsourcing industry.
Outsourcing-focused education programs are preparing more skilled workers in a nation with 93-percent literacy and widespread use of English as one of two official languages. The Philippine Cyber Corridor initiative encourages more IT and business service providers to set up shop. An undersea fiber cable project called the Asia-America Gateway will upgrade communication and data transfer with the U.S. West Coast.
Other advantages that attracted us to Manila include well-developed infrastructure, affordable real estate and a relatively young population, assuring workforce growth. BPO revenues in the Philippines are half as large as India, says to a September 2008 study from Tholons, a research and advisory firm that calls the growth “a significant achievement.” The head of the Business Process Association of the Philippines forecasts 2008 industry earnings of at least $7 billion (U.S.) in 2008, a 40-percent increase from last year. The industry now has about 500,000 Philippine workers, a number the government hopes to triple by 2010.
CPI, which embraces geographic diversity as a core value of responsible client service, is evaluating additional business relationships in this sophisticated BPO hub. We are proud to be at the forefront – again – of a trend in our industry.

It replaces the China International BPO Conference, held in Xi’an from 2004-07. More >>

Top emerging global outsourcing cities
October 1, 2008, Global Services Media

Choosing the right city for outsourced services has become more important than the choice of country. A new Global Services-Tholons study identifies locations that are globally recognized for specific capabilities, as well as ones that are establishing themselves as specialized locations for particular functions. As the outsourcing model matures, the one-stop-shop country model has given way to the more efficient best-of-breed city model. More >>
